Inspired by his penance, the nine gods also appeared. The sage of Kalava informed them that he had leprosy(skin desease) and asked them  to cure it, they offered him a boon and nine gods were hidden. As he contemplated his opposite, he later regretted that he was suffering from leprosy.

The saints who knew him were aware of his concern. The timely sage explained the ways to prevent the disease at that time lord bramha called the nava grahas and explained the every person in the earth should experience their happiness and karma you have changed the karma of sage kalav by curing his disease ,so bramaha curse  the navagraha gods that they will be effected by the laprosy disease.
